Biographical Notes

1947
Born in Oklahoma City, son of Lola Grubbs and Bela Mohr.

Sister Sandra (b. 1941) born before World War II and joined by brother Jon (b. 1953) after the Korean War.

1959
Family moved to Tucson.

1965 – 69
Attended the University of Arizona. Received a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology with minors in chemistry and math.

1968
Married Carole Martin.
First daughter Gina born.

1970
Moved to northern California.

1971
Worked in the Hematology Department at Stanford University Medical Center. Lunch times were spent across the street at the art museum studying Stanford’s Rodin collection.
The bust of Victor Hugo began my transition from science to art.

Attended San Jose State University to study biochemistry and microbiology.

1972 – 76
Worked nights and summers (while at SJSU) in the computer center at NASA Ames Research Center at Moffett Field in the southern San Francisco bay area.

1978
Divorced from Carole Mohr.
Moved to Tucson and started a real estate and building business.

 

1982
Married artist Judy Snodgrass.
Son Aaron born.

1983 – 84
Attended the University of Arizona department of Architecture.

1984
Second daughter Robyn born.

1984 – 85
Attended the University of Arizona Art department to study drawing and printmaking.

1987
Began drawing from the figure approximately 20 hours per week at open studios across Tucson.

1996
Joined the open studio group at The Drawing Studio in Tucson.

1999 – 2001
Vice-president and President of the Southern Arizona Watercolor Guild

2001 – present
Board and faculty member at The Drawing Studio

 

My preferred mediums in art are clay for three dimension, oil and watercolor for painting, and graphite for drawing.
